A complete mapping analysis of the project demo sites, managed by UNIGE, has been successfully finalized. The SOLINDARITY project recognizes the importance of gathering more accurate information from the three demo sites, specifically targeting three use cases in the food and beverage sector (Lorenz– LOR, Germany), the pulp and paper sector (Komotini Paper Mill S.A. – KOM, Greece), and the rubber and plastics sector (Artigo S.p.A. – ART, Italy). The activity aimed to collect relevant inputs in order to prepare for the system design activities, for the technology development and prototyping, and for planning the pilot demonstration and validation. The availability of monitored data has been examined per demo site also to provide relevant information for the development of digital activities.
A comprehensive analysis of the specific physical characteristics, material and energy flow of the demonstrators has been performed. The documenting process was based on historical data and in-situ measurements from the existing sensors installed in the three sites to analyze the main streams in terms of material and energy flows. This also includes drawings/maps of the demo sites and available spaces, as well as documentation of current energy consumption for different aspects of the processes involved from historical data, including fuel consumption, process fluid characteristics, mass flows, etc. The task was coordinated by UNIGE, which ensured that all corresponding information was gathered consistently among the three sites.
The mapping activities have been realised by merging the information gathered from the templates associated with the data collection campaign, and the reports of the visits organized between M1-M6 in the three pilot sites.
The visits to the demo sites were held on:
April 23rd 2024 for Artigo S.p.A.
April 25th 2024 for Komotini Paper Mill S.A.
May 28th 2024 for The Lorenz Bahlsen Snack-World GmbH & Co KG Germany
The Italian demo site: Artigo S.p.A.
Artigo S.p.A. was acquired by Gruppo Mondo in 1992, a leading worldwide manufacturer and supplier in the flooring sector, providing track and field surfaces for the last thirteen Olympic Games and also for Paris 2024. In 1996, the company moved from Milano, where it was founded during the 1960s as a part of the Pirelli Group and settled in Cairo Montenotte (Savona, Liguria). Artigo produces and commercialises high-performance flooring products that are ideal for applications in the contract sector (i.e., schools, hospitals, public spaces, and other types of locations).

The Greek demo site: Elina Komotini Paper Mill S.A.
