As part of the SOLINDARITY Horizon Europe project, Komotini Paper Mill is preparing to install and operate a 400 kW solar thermal system based on TVP Solar’s High Vacuum Flat Panel (HVFP) technology. This important milestone marks a significant step forward in the decarbonisation of industrial heat production.

On March 21, 2025, representatives from Komotini Paper Mill visited TVP Solar’s manufacturing facility in Avellino, Italy, for an in-depth tour of its cutting-edge Industry 4.0 production line, where HVFPs are manufactured under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. Covering 5,000 m², the facility includes a fully automated production line, R&D laboratories, warehouses, and office space.

During the visit, the delegation also explored TVP Solar’s pilot solar field, featuring 175 roof-mounted HVFP panels covering a gross area of 350 m². This installation is used to test and validate various HVFP-based solar thermal configurations, including direct steam generation.

Technical discussions during the visit focused on:

Control systems for HVFP technology, leveraging real-time data acquisition and analytics.

– Preliminary engineering of the solar thermal system at Komotini’s site, integrating thermal storage and a high-temperature heat pump (HP).

Installation guidelines to ensure seamless implementation.

Following this meeting, the final system design—including the dimensioning of the solar thermal field and thermal storage tank— will be confirmed to align with the HP’s expected operation throughout both summer and winter. Komotini Paper Mill will soon proceed with contractor selection and regulatory approvals to advance the project.

Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting initiative driving sustainable industrial heat solutions!
