The preliminary design of the solar thermal systems at all three demonstration sites has been successfully completed by TVP Solar, marking an important step forward for the project. At this stage, the main technical decisions have been made, including the precise layout and positioning of the solar fields, as well as the definition of their connection points to the thermal energy storage tanks. These decisions ensure an optimal integration of the solar systems within the overall energy infrastructure of each site.
The detailed design phase officially started in October 2025 and is expected to be completed in early 2026. This phase encompasses detailed engineering activities focused on the sizing, specification and selection of all Balance of Plant components, with particular attention given to system efficiency, reliability and compliance with applicable technical standards.
Once the detailed design and purchasing phases are completed, installation of the solar thermal systems is planned for mid-to-late 2026. This stage will include on-site assembly, integration with the existing thermal storage infrastructure and preparation for commissioning, ensuring that the systems are ready for operational testing and demonstration activities.
