An EU-funded project, focuses on decarbonising industrial processes through an integrated Solar Energy-based Heat Upgrade System (SEHUS). This innovative system combines solar energy (both thermal and photovoltaic), high-temperature heat pumps, thermal energy storage, and waste heat recovery to significantly reduce carbon emissions in the industrial sector.
Located in:
It represent three key industrial sectors: food, paper, and rubber industries. These pilot projects will showcase the effectiveness, sustainability, and cost-efficiency of SEHUS in supplying medium-grade heat at temperatures up to 280°C, considering various factors such as plant capacities, operational configurations, land constraints, and fuel usage.
SOLINDARITY will address major technical challenges in integrating these modules into existing process plants.
Through following processes the project aims to optimise resource management, matching available resources with industrial power and heat needs:
With a consortium comprising 18 partners from 6 EU countries (Greece, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Germany, Belgium), Switzerland, Morocco, and Jordan, SOLINDARITY strives to advance the energy transition in the industry by further developing and demonstrating sustainable energy solutions.
SOLINDARITY partners gathered in Germany during May 27-28, 2024 for the fifth Steering Committee meeting and our second in-person meeting since the project started. Although the project started this year, we are progressing in our plans and ambitions with the ultimate goal of accelerating industry decarbonisation. The Steering Committee (SC) meeting included updates on work […]
April 2, 2024. The SOLINDARITY project officially started in January 2024 with a collaborative meeting among partners in Athens, Greece. This initial gathering laid the groundwork for the project’s objectives over the next four years. The kick-off meeting provided the space for collaboration and valuable insights, enabling partners to clarify roles and initiate their work. With an ambitious aim of advancing industry decarbonisation, the consortium looks forward to partnering with stakeholders to achieve this goal, leveraging the outcomes of SOLINDARITY.
